My kid has a Kurio Xtreme2 (or Motion 2 by Gulli) tablet, which came with twinme pre-installed. Is this version of twinme up-to-date ?

Twinme versions 4.6.2 or 5.0.0 were originally pre-installed on the Kurio Xtreme2 and Motion2 by Gulli kids tablets. These versions are not the latest available; they have  known errors and do not support the latest and greatest features. You should therefore update twinme using Kurio’s updater, as shown on the video below:
